This is Homer. He is a future hopeful Service Dog. Now in Training

Homer is 1yr old. He was sold to me by Kathy Morton.

He is so strong, full of life, mischif, and love. Homer came into our program July 16th 2008. Homer lives with me and our other dogs Stetson, & Charley. If he doesn't work out in our program he will be sold to a pet home. If you think you are that wounderful home email me with the subject line Homer new home. Then you will be the firts in line.

Right now I just hope he will pass the test.

I also help all pet owners. When they go I come in and care for their pets.

I am still mobile. I have fibromyalgia and Diabetes. My dog a Catahola Leopard (looks to be a Lab/Australian shepard? His color and markings are hard to discribe. He is basically black with modeling of white tan and black forming patterns of black spotting. He picks up what I drop, opens doors, packs, and alerts when my sugars drop or go to high. He is a very good steady worker. He helps me balance when I am unsteady & helps me up when I am down.

I have worked with dogs all my life. I started my working life working at a Vet/Boarding/ grooming /show kennel. I worked there for 8 yrs. While working there I showed and raised Dalmatians and did Dalmatian rescue. After the Kennel I purchased a grooming shop. I ran it until family medical circumstances caused me to quiet it. All the while I was still doing the Dalmatian rescue and raised 1 litter every other year. Then I went to work for another Vet clinic running their grooming shop while their groomer was on maturnity leave. At that time I also ran a obedience classes.. I stayed with training dogs all through the years. Working with rescue dogs put me in the need to understand how to help dogs recover from hardships and bad conditions. Raising the Dalmatian pups I studied all the temperament tests and learned a lot about how to form their temperaments from birth on . My dogs were known for their stable temperament. As my health degenerated I started a business taking care of peoples pets while they were on vacation.

My daughter became disabled & needed a service dog. The 4 groups in our area had a very long waiting list. I did some study and found out I had all the skills through the years to train her dog, so I did. As people saw her dog in public they wanted my help. I turned most away but couldn't resist helping one lady with MS . As the Humane Socity in my area watched me work with dogs that I got through them they sent more people to me. That is how I got started helping others with their dogs. I didn't charge anything. I didn't ask for or take donations because I believed it was illegal without a 501 C for a nonprofit. With out it you have to show it as a business and pay taxes. I didn't know if you would feel I am qualified to call myself a SD trainer or not. It is a hard field to break into. Maybe I am being ignorant but as long as the dogs pass the Public Access test, Canine Good Citizenship and serve the special needs of the person it is a Service Dog. I am LEARNING and passing what works on to those in need.
